AESC is seeking entry-level Engineers to provide support for energy efficiency and demand side management programs in our Pasadena, Oakland and Carlsbad, California offices. The position will focus on focus on energy efficiency programs and strategies to save energy in buildings.

Title: Associate Engineer

Reports to: Sr. Manager

Salary Range: $29/hour – $34/hour

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare written analysis of findings and recommendations for energy efficiency, demand response, and self-generation measures for submittal to clients.
  • Conduct site inspections and/or gather data needed to perform energy-related analyses of sites or equipment.
  • Utilize analytical tools and measurement and verification methodologies to evaluate the performance of energy systems and equipment.
  • Interact closely with project managers and clients in order to meet project deadlines and budgets.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and other professional correspondence.
  • Ability to apply algebraic solutions and statistical analysis mathematical operations to such tasks.
  • Ability to interpret and understand mechanical and electrical drawings as well as equipment nameplate data and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to apply basic thermodynamic concepts such as system efficiency and conservation of energy.
  • Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must have reliable transportation, this position requires travel to customer sites.

AESC is seeking an Energy Engineer to provide support for energy efficiency and demand side management programs in our Carlsbad, CA or Portland, OR offices. The position will focus on focus on technology to market initiatives that promote emergent technologies and strategies to save energy in buildings. Other responsibilities may include whole building facility audits, energy analysis, and project development and management for multiple energy efficiency projects and/or customers.

This position requires strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency and demand side management. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate flexibility, diversity of technical expertise, strong communication skills and excellent customer engagement skills.

Salary Range: $74,000 – $98,000

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise to support program outreach and customer engagement.
  • Research codes and standards (C&S) and emerging technologies and demonstrations.
  • Conduct targeted site inspections to collect data and perform functional testing needed to establish existing equipment/system conditions.
  • Develop project-specific measurement and verification (M&V) plans to support energy savings claims.
  • Install and remove meters and data collection equipment.
  • Use analytical tools and M&V methodologies to evaluate the performance of, and make recommendations for, enhanced systems and equipment.
  • Perform complex energy and financial analyses leveraging appropriate software and hardware tools.
  • Research and evaluate innovative approaches towards energy efficiency, demand response, energy resiliency and renewable energy.
  • Develop technical reports that summarize project scope, energy savings calculation methodologies, M&V activities, M&V results, key assumptions and recommendations.
  • Keep Senior Managers informed of project schedules and progress.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-7 years of experience in energy engineering or design engineering (HVAC or process).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of various systems in commercial and industrial facilities required.
  • Experience in the energy field, such as energy efficiency, distributed energy generation/combined heat and power, project economics/rate analysis, project design, renewable energy, HVAC, central heating and cooling plants is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of measurement and verification techniques preferred.
  • Ability to interact with clients in a professional and collaborative manner through written reports and excellent oral communication.
  • Proficiency with a variety of energy analysis tools software including expertise in MS Excel.
  • Must have reliable transportation, this position requires travel to customer sites.

AESC is seeking a Project Manager who will support the performance of energy and demand reduction contracts, ensuring efforts meet all goals and client needs are addressed. The Project Manager will work closely and collaboratively with Management for overall strategy/messaging. The position will be based out of AESC’s Pasadena office; successful candidate may work remotely two days a week. 

This position requires an organized, and results-oriented up and coming leader with excellent communication skills who can initiate, build, and maintain strong relationships. The successful candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in energy efficiency (EE), including project management. The successful candidate should have the ability to understand and communicate complex EE concepts simply and clearly, provide clarity when it is lacking, and maintain detail-orientation while keeping an eye on the big picture.

Salary Range*: $82,000 – $105,000 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assists Program Manager (PM) to manage contract budget and goals. 
  • Track and report progress directly. 
  • Identify, strategize, and implement process improvements.  
  • Identify gaps in approach, materials, and services and implement resolutions. Track changes and documentation updates required and communicate changes internally and externally.  
  • Work with Program Manager to create required reports. 
  • Attend client-facing meetings, track open items, and ensure resolution. 
  • Coordinate with AESC Engineers on project intake and completion status and ensuring tracking systems are up to date.  
  • Support business development initiatives with new and existing clients.  

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • At least 4 years of experience in energy efficiency including project management and/or program management. 
  • An understanding of the California EE landscape is a must. 
  • Business development experience a plus. 
  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience; bachelor’s degree in energy related field is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be self-directed and have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain a professional rapport with market stakeholders, customers, and trade professionals. 
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex EE concepts simply and clearly. 
  • General knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards in the energy efficiency field. 
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team. 
  • Ability to excel and provide direction in the face of ambiguity and competing priorities.
