Alternative Energy Systems Consulting (AESC) is an engineering practice that provides integrated demand side management (IDSM) support, supply side and grid intelligence, project measurement and verification, and corporate sustainability services across the United States.  Since 1996, AESC’s software practice has been developing custom tools for utility Demand Side Management programs.  More recently, the AESC software team has developed a suite of customized calculation and analytics tools for several leading North American utilities.

The Software Engineer designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Reports directly to a project lead or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
  • Work with project manager or product owner to meet specification needs
  • Recommend software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with other developers to design and optimize code
  • Create flowcharts and user guides for new and existing programs
  • Document all programming tasks and procedures
  • Perform routine software maintenance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or compensatory experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Previous experience in software development, computer engineering, or other related fields
  • Understanding of the design, development and deployment of enterprise web applications using .NET technologies
  • Experience with working with C#, VB.Net and ASP.NET
  • Experience with Responsive Web Applications, should include HTML5, AngularJS, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC and CSS
  • Experience with MVC JavaScript frameworks such as Angular
  • Experience with front end frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET Entity Framework
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server desired
  • Experience with cloud-computing services, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio desired
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
