Energy Engineer – Oakland, CA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize analytical tools and measurement and verification methodologies to evaluate the performance of, and make recommendations for, energy systems and equipment.
  • Conduct energy audits in large commercial, industrial, and municipal facilities.
  • Conduct site inspections and/or gather data needed to perform energy-related analyses of sites or equipment.
  • Prepare written analysis of findings and recommendations for energy efficiency, demand response, and self-generation measures for submission to clients.
  • Interact closely with project manager and clients in order to meet project deadlines and budgets.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must have reliable transportation; this position requires considerable travel to customer sites.
  • Compliance with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Accurately track and record time spent on various projects (for billing purposes).
  • Perform other technical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of five years experience in energy related field.
  • Proficiency with a variety of energy analysis software – eQuest, DOE-2; EnergyPro, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, lighting, motors, refrigeration systems, and industrial systems.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork and interact with clients in a professional and responsive manner.
  • Ability to interpret and understand mechanical and electrical drawings as well as equipment nameplate data and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to apply basic thermodynamic concepts such as system efficiency and conservation of energy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

AESC is looking for an experienced Energy Engineer to provide technical leadership supporting a variety of energy efficiency programs, with a focus on industrial facilities. This position must have at least 5 years of experience in the energy field, with specific experience in the industrial market sector.

Content Developer – Carlsbad, CA

AESC is seeking one or more creative and detail-oriented person(s) with Utility program design and/or implementation experience to immediately join our Proposal team. At the discretion of the Proposal Manager, you will be responsible for creating well-organized and persuasive written and visual content to promote our energy services to existing and prospective clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support proposal and business development teams in responding to RFAs, RFQs, RFPs, questionnaires and information requests. This entails review and verification of all RFP requirements, completion of proposal, and coordination support of final project review, approval, and submission.
  • Draft original content and coordinate input received from internal teams including program management, business development, SMEs, human resources, marketing and other groups.
  • Ensure professional, consistent layout and format of all proposal sections.
  • Translate technical ideas into reader-friendly language that clearly demonstrates understanding of client objectives and goals.
  • Review and edit written content for formatting, grammatical, and spelling errors.
  • Develop, maintain and/or update marketing tools that follow AESC’s guidelines, including staff resumes, staff experience/skills, project descriptions, staff roles and responsibilities, and technical offerings.
  • Perform market research and cost effectiveness analysis in support of proposed offering(s).
  • Develop compelling graphics, tables, and charts to help convey concepts and provide visual formatting support.
  • Part-time and full-time positions will be considered.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of energy de-regulation, demand side management, supply side management, permanent load shifting, and demand response.
  • Experience with Utility incentive program design and/or implementation.
  • Bachelors degree in writing, communications, business, marketing or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with proposal management process.
  • Experience managing large deliverables with numerous contributors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and within established guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent grammar, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to evaluate sources, conduct research, and analyze findings using internal databases and external documents, subscription services, and websites.
  • Interest in energy, conservation, or sustainability a plus.
